people in your community Bernadette Doran, RMT Director, Equilibrium Energy + Education Born on the northwest side of Chicago, Bernadette received her Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola University and did postgraduate work at Northwestern University. She’s published hundreds of magazine and newspaper articles, and won dozens of awards. She was a senior vice-president with three global corporations, working in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Melbourne, Australia. From her undergrad days as a biology major, Bernadette has pursued a passionate study of bioenergetic principles and therapies. She is a practitioner and teacher of a variety of therapies, with Reiki and Holographic Memory Resolution being her favorites, and is a member of the Energy Medicine Task Force with the International Society of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine. I tried Western medicine, but nothing worked—it was about managing symptoms rather than getting to the cause of the problem. Then, as destiny would have it, I got transferred to an offi ce in Melbourne, Australia. I discovered an amazing new world of alternative therapies there, unheard of in the United States at the time, and started trying diff erent treatments, especially Reiki. In about eight months, all my digestive problems were gone and never came back. This was miraculous to me, and I decided then and there to become a practitioner and teacher of these therapies.
